celt_rocketsIt was only the fourth game of the young season but this game had as much intensity as a game seven playoff game. Boston was victorious beating the Houston Rockets 103-99 but were plagued by turnovers again with 16. Kendrick Perkins and company dominated and kept Yao Ming and Ron Artest in check while Tracy McGrady scored 26 for Houston. Perkins added 15 points along with his solid defensive effort.

With the Celtics leading late in the 1st half the Rockets showed much heart by going on a 25-4 run hitting three pointers and hitting nine straight shots giving Houston the lead 52-47 until Ray Allen forced a three point play, and a three point shot while Paul Pierce's three point shot got Boston the lead back to 58-53 at the half.

Ming scored only 8 points while Artest shot poorly managing15 himself. The Celtics picked up the intensity and shot well in the second half especially three point zen master Ray Allen who was clutch dropping them in whenever Houston tried to answer back with a threat of their own. Late in the fourth quarter Luis Scola sunk two baskets to cut Boston's lead to 98-95 but Kevin Garnett answered with a nice shot of his own to curtail Houston's comeback bid again.

When McGrady was fouled and fell hard he was awarded three foul shots sinking two of them to cut Boston's lead 101-99 much to the dismay of Celtics coach Doc Rivers who was almost ejected from the game for his raucous disapproval. Eddie House sank two free throws and the Celtics gutted a tough road win. They will pay a visit to the Oklahoma City Thunder tomorrow evening.

Allen finished with 29 points and Kevin Garnett was solid with 14 of his own along with 11 boards. Paul Pierce scored 13 with 9 rebounds. Share your thoughts with us in our chat room.

It wasn't their prettiest game ever, but nice work by the C's and great to see Ray Allen stroking well. I have a feeling the turnover situation will improve throughout the season as will some of the general sloppiness we are seeing from time to time.
